Open Apiaries
We maintain two apiary locations that are used for monthly educational training events where beekeepers can learn more about beekeeping in a “hands on” environment. One Open Apiary location is located in Teton County just south of Jackson Wyoming, and the second Open Apiary location is in the Nordic Ranches area just north of Etna Wyoming. During the months of April through October monthly gatherings are planned for each location, usually on the third Saturday of each month. At these gatherings beekeepers can assist with hive inspections, checking the health of each hive, and discussing management techniques that are pertinent to that season. As no two beekeepers care for their hives in the same way, it is helpful to get beekeepers together to discuss and share the various ways each beekeeper decides what methods to use in hive management.
Winter Zoom Meetings
During the months that are too cold to visit the beehives, the organization holds online Zoom meetings, covering topics on beekeeping and pollinators that are not usually covered during the summer months or topics that do not require needing a live hive to be present. These meetings are usually held in the evenings and are about an hour long. We will often bring in an expert speaker to discuss certain topics in more detail.
Zoom Meeting
Winter Zoom with Dr Judy Wu-Smart. Dr Wu-Smart will be joining us on Saturday, March 22 at 9am, MST to present a discussion about what to look for in your spring hive inspection, necropsy identifiers if your hive didn’t make the winter, and the latest information on the mass colony die-off that is happening right now.
